Sophie Mommers has been a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Criminal Law (Public Law Department) since 2023. Sophie teaches in the Bachelor's program in Law and conducts research into business-like aspects within the Dutch criminal law practice, the Dutch criminal court, the judiciary and the right to a fair trial. The right to a fair trial and empirical research into the practice of the Dutch judiciary are central to her core publications and dissertation research.
Sophie complemented her studies in Law and Criminology at the VU University Amsterdam with courses at the Faculty of Philosophy. She previously worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Legal Theory at the VU University Amsterdam and the Department of Criminal Law & Criminology at the Radboud University Nijmegen.
