ACCJ member Haddasa Noorda has collaborated with Giedo Jansen, Agnes Akkerman, and Katerina Manevska on a recent article published in Sociology.

In their article, the authors propose that electronic employee monitoring triggers feelings of (mis)recognition—both at work and in society. To better understand the effects of employee monitoring, the authors build on Noorda’s concept of “imprisonment/exprisonment” and her earlier work with Jeevan Hariharan, in which they argue that monitoring can be so severe in extreme cases that it constitutes a form of imprisonment.
